This is a very complex industry with a great deal of legal demand upon a shop, an insurance company, and even the customer. This results in serious oversight from multiple legal authorities, as well as claims professionals.

Unfortunately, customers may have a lack of understanding of the legal process, and just want their cars back as good as, or even better than before; and quickly. Therefore, demands may be made, expectations may be without perspective (and your selected shop, as well as claims professional), should provide such information and education as to keep all parties well-informed and as satisfied as conditions will allow. Member shops are professionals that are both mindful of the legal climate, and are simultaneously striving for the highest ethics in caring for their customers, insurance partners, and their individual self-esteem.

Demands may be made, and expectations may develop with limited perspective from customers that may result in assumptions that create stress, difficulties, delays, and even hardship. All of this may be easily avoided by the freedom available a customer to just "ask", since it is not only "OK", but incumbent upon both the repairer and claims representative to inform, and keep their customer informed on needs, changes, and progress with the repair of the vehicle.

The goal of any repairer, or claims professional, is the completion of a customer's vehicle repair in as expedient, yet reasonable an amount of time as may be humanly possible given the seen, and not immediately seen damage present. This will include relevant approvals with repairs (customer/claims), parts availability, verification of any manufacturer specifications, legal process, and multiple inspections throughout the repair process.

The sum of the quality assurance performed to return a customer's vehicle in proper working order, appearance, and safety are the due diligence needed for not only customer satisfaction with the moment keys are returned, but also to avoid complaints and later corrections, and most importantly, prevent anyone going in harm's way.
